I know, I know it’s a very familiar topic to discuss about. So, what’s new here? In order to know that you have to read it. 😊

As a teacher in Orchids The International School, I can proudly say, teachers are multitaskers. So, teaching isn’t an easy task to perform. Assumption of the needs of the students sometimes drive the teachers crazy 😵. They always seek innovative strategies to engage the students in a learning environment, although, those methods don’t work always as expected as all the students are not equal in every respect. They have different requirements, understanding which is an ongoing process.

So, let’s look into these 10 effective practices below which can be utilized in the classrooms.

1. It is truly said that first impression is the last impression. That’s why it is much important that the classrooms are organized decently. This includes — arrangement of the places, bookshelves, charts and boards. For a healthy and systematic teaching this point should be the first priority.

2. Teachers need to be strict and at the same time affectionate towards the students. But this is not possible without incorporating classroom rules among them. Beside this, enforcing those rules on a regular basis would do the trick.

3. Next, we have to think about the most crucial aspects — obviously the students. Teachers are required to plan for various types of pupils — hyperactive, slow learners and special as their demands are not similar.

4. From my personal experience, I want to share that the students always seek teachers as their friends. So, teachers need to be approachable at any time. Not only this, they are desired to maintain a positive and enthusiastic nature within themselves as well as within the children.

5. It is necessary for the teachers to be resourceful with knowledge, innovative ideas, lesson plans and teaching aids which are an important part of teaching because children are always thirsty for new and attractive teaching materials.

6. Students spend a major amount of time in school after their home and they expect a home like atmosphere in the classroom with their peers and teachers. So, it is advised to provide the preferred comfort zone where they can show their talents without any hesitation.

7. Students get easily distracted with the monotonous teaching methods. So, the teachers need to create a fun filled learning environment where the students get to shed their energy by playing while adapting the lessons.

8. Motivation is one of the best influential technique which has a great impact on the students, such as giving feedback, rewards as well as appreciation for their work on a daily basis. Truly speaking, these techniques work wonderfully.

9. A learning process is incomplete without group discussion which is a powerful method to inculcate new ideas or to give opinion about the topics. This is called cooperative learning practice which not only bestow wisdom but also discipline.

10.Last but not the least, technology is an inseparable part in teaching. An ideal classroom should be equipped with technical devices like digital boards with visual-auditory effects which originate a quest of knowledge among the students.

That’s it. You just swallowed my points and now you are well trained to use these strategies in your classrooms. Though it’s not as simple as reading. To be an effective and devoted teacher by executing these tricks are a challenge to every teacher. But, don’t worry, we are learners too and our learning can happen with the students as well as with our colleagues with whom we can discuss and exchange the ideas.
